Living in Spain without working and living in Spain while continuing professional activity are legally different situations.

NON-LUCRATIVE VISA

“I work for a foreign company” does not automatically make the work irrelevant in Spain.

The Non-Lucrative Visa is designed for residence without carrying out employment or professional activity. That distinction matters for people who can technically perform their job from anywhere.

Working for a foreign employer does not, by itself, turn professional activity into a non-working lifestyle.

For somebody planning to continue qualifying remote work from Spain, a route such as the Digital Nomad regime may need to be analysed instead.
