REPORTED MOVE · NOT AN OLEXPAT CLIENT

A long-term digital nomad who eventually settled in the Canary Islands described how having the wrong visa limited the flexibility he wanted for his family.

From nomad to resident

In a Euronews report about Spain's Digital Nomad framework, a remote-work entrepreneur described spending years as a digital nomad before settling in the Canary Islands with his family.

He explained that an earlier visa situation had made the flexibility he wanted difficult. He later built a business around the remote-work community in Spain.

Why the route matters

For many people, the objective is not simply to spend a few months somewhere warm.

It may be to move with a partner, bring children, create continuity, build a business or become part of a local community.

The route should follow the life plan — not the other way around.
